Warm weather and outdoor concerts go together so well, the only thing that makes them better is when the latter are free. People who realize this and share an appreciation of the planet we call home are in luck, then, because Saturday, May 24th, marks the 15th Annual EarthFest hosted by WBOS Radio 92.9.
Performing this year for free in honor of Earth are alternative rockers Cake, the headliners, as well as The BoDeans, Cracker, The English Beat, and various Boston-based groups. Bay State Bike Week Nears

In fact, Mayor Thomas M. Menino’s seven-day Bay State Bike Week, a companion to May’s nationwide Bike Month, will be here on Monday, May 12, and will stick around until Sunday, May 18.
The main focus of the weeklong event is the 50,000-Mile Commuter Challenge. Daunting as the name is, it’s a bit misleading, too, because the challenge is more of a call for collaboration than an actual invitation to compete.

MIT Celebrates Earth Day All Week Long

Happy Earth Day, my fellow Earth dwellers!
All this week, from today until Friday, April 25, Cambridge’s MIT is celebrating Earth Week in grand style. The festivities are getting off to a turbo-boosted start with the arrival of Governor Deval Patrick at 4:15 pm today. He’ll discuss Clean Energy for the Commonwealth, a presentation that includes his own concept of what Massachusetts will look like under the influence of clean energy.
