Plan Early for St. Patrick’s Day with The Beehive

by Chandra on February 27th, 2008

I know — it’s not even March yet. But, it’s never too early to start preparing for one of Boston’s most anticipated holidays each year, namely St. Patrick’s Day. Happening hot spot The Beehive (541 Tremont Street, Boston, 617-423-0069) is already getting its own first annual celebration together for the big day next month and wants you to come join in the feast-themed Bee Irish festivities.

From 5pm to 2am on Monday, March 17, the deservedly popular venue will present a unique blend of live entertainment and authentic Irish comfort food. The last comes courtesy of in-house chef Rebecca Newell, who will use her culinary talent to whip up such savory à la carte treats as House-made Bangers with Bubble & Squeak ($11), Irish Pub Salad ($11), Lamb, Barley & Parsnip Stew ($22), Wild Irish Salmon Shepard’s Pie ($22), and — my personal favorite since I was born with an unshakeable sweet tooth — Apple-Oatmeal Crisp with Irish Whiskey Cream ($7.50). Yummm! And, no, the bar will not forget the Guinness on the side.

As for the live entertainment, Boston’s own resident DJ and keyboardist Brother Cleve will take the stage from 6pm–8pm, while Robert Emmet Dunlap and Hogan’s Goat will assume musical duties from 8pm–12:30am. All of this and more is available free of cover charge, although attendees do have to pay for the drinks and food (of course!). To show appreciation, The Beehive is even throwing in a few “mini surprises,” the exact nature of which I know not. Still, I’ll go ahead and guess a little green will be involved.

The Beehive’s Bee Irish event is co-sponsored by the Boston Irish Tourism Association, so you pretty much know beforehand that the celebration’s going to be nothing but good times.
