Hotel Havens: Seaport Hotel

Seaport Hotel

Advantage: The location on Boston’s waterfront makes for wonderful views and refreshing sea air when outside. It’s also conveniently close to the World Trade Center if you’re in town for an event held there, as well as Logan Airport.

Disadvantage: Some visitors note that although the hotel is very comfortable and comes with many useful amenities, the South Boston location is too far from the central downtown Boston area where many local attractions are found.

Distinctive Amenities: Seaport Hotel has a state-of-the-art fitness center, free wireless Internet access, and room service available via computer. [More Features (PDF)]

The Seaport is also a “no-tipping” hotel. Your room price includes a tip, and your bar bill doesn’t come with a line for a tip.

And this isn’t a “wink, nod” to not taking tips. I once tried to tip the doorman for getting me a cab and it was earnestly refused.

I wish all hotels were that way. It saves the worry of having to figure out how much to offer and then stressing over whether you were generous enough or not. Very convenient.
